The flu is a highly contagious respiratory infection, which results in about 1,000 hospitalizations and 300 deaths in Canada each year. The illness is characterized by the sudden onset of fever, aches, chills, fatigue, coughing and sneezing.

Flu season takes place between November and April each year and Canadians are urged to get the flu shot as soon as possible, as it takes up to two weeks for the shot to build immunity within the body. The flu changes each year so a new vaccine is developed before every flu season.

To avoid getting sick this flu season students are welcome to visit the Trafalgar Campus’ Health Centre in room B129 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
