Sequins, fur and metallics are a few of the most popular holiday looks that are rocking the runway this season.

“This holiday season we are mostly looking at a lot of sequins, metallic and plaid,” said Toronto fashion expert Lily Milosh.

“Leather accents, lace and animals prints are also some of the most popular fashion wear this season,” said Milosh, a Humber College Fashion Arts student and part-time personal shopper.

When it comes to colours, there are a lot of darks, like navy blue, burgundy, army green and cranberry.

“I’ve always been into sequins, but when the holidays come around, sequins are always in and it always looks so good on everyone.”

“You’ll mostly see sequinned skirts, tops, jackets and dresses, and the most popular colours you’ll see are black, gold and silver,” said Milosh.

For outerwear, this season is bringing in looks from wool and leather jackets to fur vests.

“This year it’s definitely all about the fur vest, leather jackets and wool trench coat. With one or all of these pieces you will definitely be in style this season,” said Milosh.

To go with these looks, this season’s trendy footwear brings a lot of suede, metal hardware and high-top boots.

But a final look is far from complete without a perfect made up face and styled hair.

“The holidays are all about standing out and trying out new makeup looks. That’s what our customers usually ask for,” said makeup artist Tiana Kushner, who works at the M.A.C counter at Mapleview Mall.

This season is bringing in a lot of new makeup looks like dark lipstick, metallic eyes, highlighted cheekbones and bold eyebrows.

“We got our new holiday makeup in and you’re pretty much looking at burgundy, cranberry and plum colour lips, and metallic greens, blues and purple eyes,” said Kushner.

Some other favourites this season are the classic cat eyes, matte skin and rosy cheeks.

Don’t forget about playing up your nails with the most popular trend, “nail art,” which was featured in Glamour magazine.

“When it comes to hair, people are either coming in to get the same look touched up or to completely change their look,” said Martina Tasso hairdresser at Pure NV salon and spa in Hamilton.

Tasso said, this holiday the popular ombré hair trend is out, and instead the new look will be highlights all throughout the hair.

“I think the reason I see so many people coming in asking for these warm honey, caramel highlights is because they look so great on blonds and brunettes,” said Tasso.
