Are your closets overflowing with old clothes? Those clothes can save you some money.
H&M stores want all your torn or stained clothes, any condition and whatever brand.
With every bag of clothes donated to H&M, you will receive a $5 gift card toward your next purchase of $30. All donations will be given to various charities or recycled.
H&M works with UNICEF, Water Aid, Conscious Foundation and contributes to several countries worldwide that have been hit by major disasters, according to about.hm.com.
Frances Nino, manager at H&M at Oakville Place Mall, said, “We have certain charities that we are helping out and we are promoting that H&M doesn’t just sell clothes. We are aware of our surroundings and trying to help out.”
“We have certain charities that we are helping out and we are promoting that H&M doesn’t just sell clothes. We are aware of our surroundings and trying to help out.”
In 2012, H&M donated more than 3.2 million garments to charities and this year all other items will be recycled to produce something useful, the company website says.
“If it’s reusable we will donate the clothes, if they aren’t they will be recycled and used for something else,” said Nino.
Sheridan student Natalia Berruecos, dropped off items at the Oakville store.
“I found a lot of clothes that I don’t wear anymore so I filled up a couple grocery bags and now I have $10 off my next purchase here,” said Berruecos, 21. “They were just taking up space and now they are going to a good cause.”
Nino said you can bring in your clothing until further notice and encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunity. “I think it’s great that students get a $5 gift card and they are also getting the chance to help out.”
