The Arthritis Society hosted their first Ontario Jingle Bell Walk & Run on Sunday at Sheridan’s Trafalgar Campus.

Participants could choose a 1, 2.5 or 5k route around campus. The event provides jingle bells to the participants so that they can be heard while they walk or run their route.

General adult registration was $30 and participants were encouraged to collect pledges for the Arthritis Society with prize incentives. Lorna Catramboni is the manager of community development for the Arthritis Society. She estimates that the group raised 7,000-8,000$ on Sunday, a monetary goal that she is happy with.

The event began with a ten-minute zumba warm-up lead by Annie Char of Zumba Passion Oakville, and then it was off to the races.

Many participants have a personal relationship with arthritis whether they suffer from the disease themselves, like volunteer MC for the event, Bradd Morgan, or a family member that has been affected, like Catramboni.

Participants of all ages were offered a pizza lunch, some hot beverages, bottled water and a gift bag courtesy of sponsors.
