STORY BY CHRIS COUTTS
A 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near Sheridan’s Trafalgar Campus on Thursday afternoon, say Halton Police.
The woman was walking near the college at around 8:15 a.m. when three men, who appeared to be intoxicated, approached her, police say. One of the men sexually assaulted her before she managed to flee the area.
The suspects are described as male, white and in their early to mid 20s. The attack took place around the “perimeter” of the woods bordering the Oakville campus, according to an e-mail sent by Sheridan administration to all staff and students Thursday night.
At this time, police do not believe Thursday’s sexual assault is related to the five sex assaults that occurred between last August and February.
Anyone with information about the assault are asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4747, extension 8970. Individuals can also report a tip anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca or by texting “Tip201” with your message to 274637.
Sheridan students are urged to make use of the SafeWalk program available to them when using the trails around campus.
