Depression hits everybody

With depression hurting millions of Canadians, Sheridan Sun reporter Michael Rodrigues looks into the lives of people who have battled the illness and have had their families hurt by it. Depression can knock its victims on the ground and cause everyday tasks such as getting out of bed and showering to become battles within ones self.

Depression can start in multiple ways, but common symptoms a rise.

  • Depressed mood
  • Increase or decrease in weight or appetite
  • Sleep problems
  • Feelings of helplessness
  • Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Decreased energy
