Looking to game? Join the Looking For Gamers club

Gamers from all over Sheridan are gathering weekly to battle it out and have a good time with the Looking For Gamers club.
Looking For Gamers, or LFG, is a student club based at Trafalgar Campus.

It aims to create a fun and friendly gaming experience for students, and to bring a sense of community to Sheridan’s gaming culture.

“We want to create a strong network for gamers, whether they be hardcore or casual. We like to compete and have fun. As of right now, we are over 150 members strong,” said Eddie Crampton, 22, a second-year Broadcast Journalism student and president of the club.

LFG also plays board games and card games. “We talk and play games together, just have a good time, the Magic guys trade cards and we have D&D campaigns. Board games, card games, you name it and we can do it,” said Crampton.

The club also hosts competitive tournaments where members stand to win prizes. Some tourney games include Star Craft 2 and League of Legends.

Amanda Kerman, 23, a graduate of the Animal Care program at Sheridan, says she is happy to have found a sense of community in LFG, especially because she is a female gamer.

“It has its ups and downs. I tend to be treated very rudely because people will assume I’m one of those girls who demand everything because, God forbid, I’m a girl and playing a video game. I play because I love doing so, not because I want free stuff. I just want to be treated equally in the gaming community. LFG is great for that,” said Kerman in an email interview.

Kerman lists League of Legends, Call of Duty and Pokemon as her favourite games to play. She also enjoys playing card games, including rummy and euchre. She has competed in the League of Legends tournaments hosted by LFG as well.

Looking For Gamers meets twice a week at the Trafalgar Campus in room S301, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
